    Default Tatara Masamune Nodachi

I inadvertently bought a Nodachi (I was the only bidder). I’ve been told it shaves similarly to my Yates 921-H but better.

It’s Friday and I’m waiting for it to be delivered for today’s shave. Fingers crossed that it’s worth the money.

I’m also considering buying a Razorock Hawk in stainless steel. I thought about getting a Blackland Vector but that’s a bit pricey for me. For the price of the Vector, I can get the Hawk with both the regular plate and the “A” plate and have a bunch of money leftover.

Good luck with those. I hope its as nice as the hipe those razors have.
I recently found that a 10 dollar 1940s Super Speed give me the best DE shave. Im not sure what it is but the end game is BBS without any issues.
Let us know how it goes.

I’ve had a few vintage Gillettes and never got a decent shave out of one. I still have a 1962 Slim that I’ll probably include in the box if I sell this Nodachi.

Just unboxed it and threw a new Feather blade in it. I can’t describe this adequately, but the way it assembled; the feel and sound, I can tell it’s a higher quality piece than the Yates.

First shave will be later this evening. Our pastor is coming by for a visit following the loss of another relative last night.

First shave in the books. In short, it gave a top notch two pass shave. I can’t wait to see how well it shaves once I get familiar with it and become better at using it.

People say that it’s aggressive but it didn’t feel dangerous at all. I feel the blade but not in a bad way.

    I think it’s a keeper.

The Vector is almost the same price right now. it's a different beast since it's a single edge but it can give a shave the equal of a straight razor once you get the hang of it and the shave is very comfortable.

Not all vintage TTO Gillettes shave the same. This is why i have so many. At least thats what i tell myself.

I do like the looks and idea of the Vector. Plus love the AC Blades too.

IMO, it’s well worth the money.

It outclassed my Mühle R41 (R101 technically), rekindled my love for safety razors, and I have barely touched my straight razors since I got the Nodachi. When the titanium version became available I ordered that one too and it made an excellent razor even better.

The ergonomics (weight, balance, size of handle) are excellent and every morning I look forward using it. It is the first razor that in my book can duplicate the closeness of a straight razor shave and I can’t tell at the moment when or if I will go back to shave predominantly with my straight razors again.
