Default RR Lupo 95 OC razor first use

This morning I shaved with my new RR Lupo 95 OC razor with a Derby Extra blade for the first time. It gave an excellent 4 pass close and comfortable shave. Nary a clog in sight when rinsing it which the RR Lupo 95 SB sometimes gave me when using it. The initial impression was that the shave was slightly smoother and closer than the SB version.

Like the SB version, the fit and finish was excellent especially considering the price point. Personally, I think you could pay a lot more for a similar razor and not gain a huge improvement in fit and finish. I could say the same about the fit and finish of the RR Barber Pole handle that I ordered with it. It's excellent cut knurling providing great grip.

I doubt further use will change my opinion of how the OC version shaves. For those who enjoy a DE on the aggressive side with a good amount of blade feel it should be a winner. I am very happy to have added it to my rotation.

Almost finished the shaving with the RR Lupo 95 OC and it is ticking along nicely with no change from my initial impression. I think I'll use the razor for the month of June as I like it that much and may even buy the OC bottom plate to convert my SB version to OC. As always YMMV.

How much blade feel is there?
Would you say it's a largely blade forward razor or just a little? I like the blade feel but not in excess. I've learned that blade gap is an easy thing to learn to use but blade exposure makes a difference to me in comfort. Around 0.15" is about as much as I enjoy. I'd call that about medium to me. Some of these newer razors are getting out there quite a bit nowadays. I', leaning toward the SB model but cant make up my mind.
    Thanks for your report, Bob.

All I can say is that if you have the right angle on the razor you will be ok. Ride too much on the top cap and the razor will cut poorly. Ride too little on the top cap and you are scraping your face. The last part is where I think people say there is too much blade feel. Other than that, I'll plead Schultz on knowing what blade feel is. Sorry.

The RR Lupo 95OC base plate arrived today. I swapped out the 0.95 SB base plate and will do a test shave tomorrow.

Had a shave as good as the original RR Lupo 95 OC gives with the RR Lupo 95 SB converted to OC with the OC base plate. Bonus for me as the RR Lupo 95 OC is fast becoming my favourite DE and I now have a spare. For those wanting to try the OC version of the RR Lupo 95 and already have the SB version it may be a good route to go to get just the OC base plate and save a bit of coin in the process.
