I was at a Japanese market (Marukai) that recently opened in the San Francisco Bay Area, and to my surprise I found the hard to get red package Feather DE blades on sale.
They were selling for $6.98 per pack, which is somewhat expensive. However, it's still cheaper than having them sent over from Japan.

Cool. Is this the store on Stevens Creek near Wolfe? Did they have the yellow blades as well?
Yeap, that's the store. They only had the red feather blades and no DE handles.
id like to try those out hopefully ill be able to find then close to me
The red packs are the same as the yellows--no difference in blades, as far as I can tell. Does anyone know different?
**EDIT** Since I'm new here, and I would like to help in this discussion, I'll gladly PIF a pack of Japanese packaged feathers to two members. Jwoods, I'm looking at you. PM me with your address! First two gets it.

Hey, I'm new here and I'm not trying to thread jack, but I did not know there were so many different types of DE blades.
I found a super speed this weekend for $3 at an antiques mall and I was just wondering what blades you guys would recomend for a newbie.
Also, do you guys know if beauty supply stores sell DE blades? I am having trouble finding any.
Well, avoid the Feathers, they are about as sharp as they get. Personas are reputed to be very forgiving, Merkurs and Gillettes are also a good choice.

I just found that Sally Beauty Supply Carries Personna DEs, and those are all over the place.
Try them out then! Blade choice is a very personal thing, so if you're interested there are sites that sell blade sample packs, with 5 blades of each brand, and then you just choose how many brands you would like to try... :)
I can wholeheartedly recommend Gillette 7 O'Clock PermaSharps (Green package from India) and Sharp Edges (Yellow Pack from Russia). They are available form several online vendors, like The Shave Den, Razor and Brush, and Connaught Shaving.
Are these blades still available at that store (Wolfe + Stevens Creek)? I went there finally on Friday and could not find any. Even asked one of the ladies at the counter, and she couldn't find them either. Together we could not see any DE blades.Quote:
