Had no razors to test this morning OMGSo with this thread in mind I broke out one of my old favorite DEs a 47 SS and through a feather in it. No I am not going to give up the straight but it was a hell of a good shave.

I have to agree with you 100%. I've been using my beloved straights only when I can really devote the time (and attention) it deserves. It's a great experience I don't want to sully.

I'm pretty much back to a DE full time Shaved with a straight exclusively for 3 years. Butn ow, waking up at 4:45 every morning for work, and just don't know if I'd trust myself with a straight at that time.

For full disclosure, it's been quite a while since I've used a straight. The DE has been working well for me. I intend on keeping some of my straights, but will likely be selling several as well, including a 7/8 Dublduck Wonderedge in about as mint condition as they come.

I tried str8 razor shaving and found it took too much time for me over the DE. There is a different technique for each and I have used a DE long enough to get a BBS almost every time and with very little irritation, unless I'm just careless.

Thumbs up I just bought a "travel-size" DE on saturday!

I found this unused, short-handled, screw-off head Gillette DE razorin an "antique" shop. The very next morning, I got a shave that couldn't be beaten! They sure knew how to make them 65 years ago, didn't they? (I paid $2.50 + tax for this little gem!)Thisw lillte champ has become my "daily" razor. Thank you, King Camp Gillette! Scott

My DE's are in my rotation about 25% of the time. I love shaving with them. They are great for a change of pace or when I'm pressed for time. I get good results with Straights or DE's.

I miss my 14th birthday gift from my father...a Gillette "El Presidente" DE. Plated in gold, nothing quite shaved as it once did.Scott

Very likely a "tech"...if it was really unuse,d mate, you got the deal of the century. Fantastic shavers, and a testament to workmanship. Gillette made them to last, indeed.

I've been using my Futur this week and I keep getting such good, easy shaves. Man. DEs are not to be sneezed at...

Anyone still shave with DE on a regular basis?
    Me..

My shaves are split about 70 / 30 at the moment between the DEs (Merkur Vision & 38C) & my str8s..

I REALLY enjoy the str8s but usually don't have the time in the morning to use them. Still learning so I have to take a little extra time with them.

However, I can see a time where I possibly go to using my straight the majority of the time..

Just ordered another one so I got it bad..
