    Default 1920's old type

So I got this one in the mail just recently and today decided to give'er a whirl.

Besides having to do a few passes (Blades were old, need new ones) have to say the shave is pretty remarkable. I've got whiskers you could grate granite on and a face that wouldn't get razor burn if I used a dull rusted lawnmower blade you took out of a forge. I think the biggest thing is that I waited a few days to shave and I didn't do any big pre-shaving routine yet. Still getting it down pat. However for being from the 1920's it did the job more than admirably. No nicks (Thanks to the dull blade) but face is mostly smooth. I think this one is going to be my daily before shift shaver. Thanks for listening to me rant.

Post Scriptum - I'm not sure whether or not I want to polish the razor up or leave it looking antiqued. I kinda like it with the battle scars. Popular consensus?

That's a nice set. I would leave it as is. What's wrong with a few battle scars?

Hello, KrazieSJ: That is the Gillette Ball Tech, a razor that comes in many variations. It's a good shaver. I would put a little shine on it if you must, otherwise leave it alone. And, yes, get yourself some new blades. Those old ones are rough.

Sorry to correct you, Obie, but the Ball End Old Type is not the same as a Ball Tech.

I say leave the battle scars. Gives the razor character.

Don't worry Obie, I made the exact same mistake a few months ago in a similar thread.......

I would clean any grunge but beyond that I'd leave it as is.

I once shaved with a NOS early Gillette blade .... 1920s or maybe even earlier. Not a pleasant experience.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Yeah, in some places it's not so much a shave as it is a waxing without the wax.
