    Default First DE shave!

I have been straight razor shaving for about 6 months now. But, I still have to use my cartrage razor on the mornings that I have to work in the office and need to be in early. I also find it hard to shave straight two days in a row. A friend started DE shaving and got me interested. I ordered a razor and blades from SRD and it arrived yesterday. My first shave was fantastic. It's my new daily shaver! When I showed it to my wife, she said...."great another shaving product in the batroom." Another new obsession!

    Default First DE shave

    Hello, Carlo:

I am a straight razor shaver, but I also like double edge razors and keep two in the rack. I use the two, the Edwin Jagger "Chatsworth" barley and the Muhle-Pinsel R89, in rotation with my straight razors, as well as when short on time. One note of caution, Carlo: don't forsake the straight razor for the double edge. Each in its own place is the way I look at it.

    Regards,
    Obie

Obie, I aggree about straights. I shaved with my restored Wade and Butcher that Max fixed up for me on monday....no way could I ever give it up. But, on days that I need a quick shave, this is a great way to do it.

I have two DE's in my rotation, a nice heavy brass Gillette and an alloy PAL. If I'm in a hurry I use the DE as a shave only takes minutes.
I still enjoy using my straights when I have more time on my hands for a bit of 'me time' with no kids interupting me.

Yes, I'm in the same camp. I normally use a straight but when in a hurry I use the EJ Barleycorn.

    Carlo,

Same here...In fsct it was my conversion to DE shaving that convinced me to give str8 razor shaving a try.

I still keep my Merkur HD handy for those days when I have to rush out of the house to work.

Congrats on the successful DE shave. I had almost a year of straight razor experience before I picked up a DE for the first time, and I found the transition seamless. My DE's are now my go-to razors when I'm short on time or just feel like a change of pace; you won't find a cartridge razor in my medicine cabinet anymore. And good riddance too!

Definately! I use a straight as much as possible, but if I'm in a rush I'll use a DE. Better that than to lose some skin..!

Congrats on the shave! I really like my little Merkur DE. Well made and a good shaver with Gillette blades in it.

    Carlo,

    +1

For those rushed shaves I use my 1930s British Gillette 88 or my 1930s Schick Eversharp injector.

Using a DE now and again makes for a nice change

    Have fun !

    Best regards

    Russ

Congrats on the first DE shave! I have four DEs that I will use on occasion. I like the shave they give and, at least for me, the shave is faster.
