I'm new to straights but have several different Super Speeds. Have you checked the blade alignment? One of my 50's seems to have a lot more "wiggle room" for the blade.

To OP...the 40's and early 50's models are very similar, it's really only in the later models that changes became more noticeable, particularly the lower profile on the head.

I'm new to straights. But I found that with my DE if I try to do a sweeping turn, then the blade slips horizontally and I can cut myself, sometimes the angle of the blade can cause issues too if I'm not careful

the blade has 0 wiggle room and holds the blade very tightly in place i dont make any sweeping moves with the blade either.....though i did solve my problem of being bitten by the DE.....it was a very simple solution....STOP USING IT

Also, I have noticed that some of the early 1950's (before the flared tips) models look the same as the 1940's models. Are theses essentially the same razor model? Thanks for the help.
I'm primarily a DE shaver and own a couple of Super Speeds (a 1951 Black Tip and two Flare Tips). They are good shavers, but I really prefer my 1964 Slim Adjustable over all the others.

    As with anything, YMMV.
