Thread: Feather Stainless Steel Safety Razor

I personally can not wait to get my hands on this beauty!!! What a razor!!

That's it, I'm going to put that maple tree in my front yard to use! So many handles can be made!

I got mine!! What a beautyfull piece of work. Feels good in the hand, ooses quality and luxury.

Im not DE man myself, I dont have alot of experience with DEs, although i do own a Futur and shave with it once in a while.

I find the Feather a challenge to shave with. It gives very little feedback, probably because the blade cannot vibrate, its locked in place. Also the heavy, robust design and material stops resonation. Furthermore, the angle is hard to find and maintain. The razor leaves only a small "gap" of angle, where it cuts the hair. If the angle is slightly off, it wont cut nearly as much.

I am very happy with the razor, and I welcome the challenge of shaving with it.

thomas! i too recently got the feather all stainless.. it is quite difficult to shave with .. from what i have read and noticed.. you need a steeper angle helps.. which is funny since my artist club requires a shallower angle.

also... i've noticed that once you get the right angle.. the shaver as a whole kinds of "sings" when shaving hair.

to me it's an amazing razor.. just requires some awkward technique.. and also.. it seems like it's impossible to irritate your skin with it.. not that i'm trying too hard or anything.

I've had the feather for a while now. Once you get the hang of the increased angle it's a great shaver. For me it's about as perfect as I've seen in a DE. Size, heft, ergonomics, shave quality,build quality it's got it all.

The guys that have this razor, do you find that Feather blades work the best with it? From what I have read elsewhere, people seem to like Feather blades in the Feather Stainless Steel razor. That makes sense to me, but I wouldn't mind some more feedback.

The Feather double edge razor was designed to be used with Feather blades. At least that's what I understand. Because the razor is mild, the sharpest blade on earth is the perfect coupling for it. The combination works.

The Feather is an impressive razor in overall quality and workmanship. It's also nice to look at. Yet I had to let mine go, because it was a touch mild for my heavy beard. Using Feather blades, I found my Edwin Jaggers a touch more aggressive and, therefore, a better shave.

The Feather needs some practice to find its sweet spot. If you have a heavy beard, though, I suggest getting another razor. I assume the Feather will do well for gentlemen with average to mild beards. If your beard is as heavy as mine, the Feather might not be for you. It was not for me.
