I think that's what I like about it so far... It makes me learn my angle of "operation" without drawing blood to teach me... :tameshigiri:

There is some debate as to whether a Weishi is good for beginners because it is so light. Personally I think it is because it teaches the right pressure and angle yet it won't bite you when you err.
I've been going at it with slow shallow strokes... Seems to work well... I find it more comfortable than the disposables that I've been using... Schick Xtreme 3 @ $1.56 each... I can buy a whole slew of blades for that.
I like the weight of the Weishi head, seems to glide quite well...
Well it's been 30 days since I started this thread... So...
After being away from my DE for the past 28 days... I must say that disposible blades really SUCK!
I didn't want to pack all my shave items while I went back to work, so I didn't and I wish I would have.
My first shave after two weeks using a DE and going back to the disposible was horrifying...
I did manage to keep my head on my shoulders, for real... The first two razors out of the package we're s**T...
Anyway, now that I bought another Weishi I'm in Heaven... One for work, one for home... Now I need a second brush and I'm good to go...
These will hold me over till I get in "FULL" swing of straight shaving...
NoseWarmer,
I found that some blades helped the razor in the finicky nature of angles. It has been long enough now that I will ahve to pull the box and ntoes out to refresh teh memory on what conclusion I had arrived at.
I find that the SuperSpeed or the Merkur Heavy Classic are the DE that I preferred. I have not used a DE for a full shave in over 3 years as the straight is now easier for me to use and it costs nothing for new blades. I also cut myself less with the straight compared to the DE, maybe I tend to be more careful! I think a light weight superspeed style would be hard to use. I like a little heft.
You are also on your way with the soaps you are making based on the sample you gave me.
The weishi is a very tame and gentle razor. If you get a different razor the blades will feel different.
