    Default Head Shaving with SR

    Hi from Italy!,
this is my first post but I read the forum since sept.

I'm bald and I usually shave my head and face using an old Gillette SR.

For the face I use a Palmolive soap+a badger brush.
As I don't shave any day the head and with the "hairs" growing longer/stronger, I'm worried to damage the brush. In the days when hairs are longer I revert to use Proraso "spray" foam for the head.

Now since many on this forum state that "foam" < "cream/soap" and that the proper lather is applied using a brush (and I second that) I was wondering if there is a "proper" way to apply lather on the head.

    Thanks!

    Welcome to SRP!

Your badger brush will work fine on your head, and it won't be damaged by your hair.
If your hair is a little longer you may need to rub the lather in with your fingers a bit. When my hair has gotten fairly long between shaves I apply lather with the brush, swirling it in as much as possible then rub it in with my fingers and finally swirl the brush over it one more time.

By SR do you mean straight razor, or safety razor? If you mean safety
razor, usually around here they refer to safety razors as a DE, meaning
double edge, to avoid confusion. Just curious.

My wife calls DE's T razors. I like that better than DE. A straight razor is straight and a T razor is shaped like a T.

Yes I mean safety razor, DE.

So I'll keep using the brush on my head.

    Thanks!
