    Hello, BullGoose:

This is good information. Thank you for taking the time. Yes, yes, I like that idea.

    Regards,

Do you mean performance wise or just looks?

I'm afraid not really being a DE aficionado it's a matter of having what does the job for me. I like the EJ Chatsworth and the Stainless feather. If it's vintage I'll take the Fatboy. Happily I've not had the fever for these things.

Fat Handled Gillette Tech... I tried a bunch of others, and that's the only one (combined with a Feather blade) that I like. So my list is short.

Have converted to straights. However, once in a blue moon I pull something else off the shelf. Most likely to be (no order):

    GEM Micromatic

    Most any Schick SE

Most any Slant (Luna, Hoffritz, Merkur)

    Futur, set at 3.5

    First gen Superspeed

    Slim adjustable, set at 7-8

The DEs will be loaded w Feathers or IPs.

I've got a soft spot for Rolls, but I just can't get them sharp enough.

I've had good results honing a Rolls blade on my Asagi, using circular strokes, and JimR's slurry technique.

I use two layers of electrical tape on the spine.

However, stropping in the Rolls case damages the edge. I think that's because of the difference between the stropping and honing angle, so I started stropping on a regular strop.

Interesting... I also hone the blades on my straight hones. It can be done with care. But how the heck do you use a regular strop on a Rolls blade?

Merkur Futur. No 2-5. The Futur is the first DE I bought and I love it. No reason to get another for comparison.
