A Gift From Dearly Beloved
Ladies and gentlemen:
Today the dearly beloved gave me a gift.
Whoa! what a gift.
What was the occasion, you ask?
No, it is not my birthday.
Nor is it our anniversary.
Then again, we've been together for 45 years — and every day has been an anniversary.
Love rules the court, the camp, the grove, /And men below, and saints above; /For love is heaven, and heaven is love
(Sir Walter Scott)
The dearly beloved gave me the gift of the double edge: the Pils.
Regards,
Obie
It must be near Valentine's Day!
Way to go! You do have a true valentine!

Lucky dog!
My dear thebigspendur:
Yes, yes, of course. You are my shield, my protector, and the moment I detect a hint of radioactivity, I will dispatch the Pils for you to dispose of.
Indeed, dearly beloved was a schoolmate of angels. I am grateful to her.

This actually is a good thing for all of us as you are in a unique position to compare the Feather All Stainless Steel Double Edge Razor and the Pils Double Edge Razor. I know you are a skilled shaver, but, from what I have read, the Pils takes a little time to get used to as it requires holding the razor more perpendicular to your face than other razors.
Which model did your wife get you? If she gifted you the all stainless steel model, I would be careful with leaving the razor blades in the razor after use. People have shown that some of the Pils stainless steel razors develop surface rust when they leave the razor blades in them.
Please let us know how it treats you.
Hello, altshaver:
How kind of you to write. Thank you.
I have the Pils stainless steel in the matt finish coming. Yes, of course, I will remove the blade after each shave and clean and dry the razor, much in the way I do the straight razor, and store it in the rack.
My Feather all stainless steel receives the same cleaning and drying care after each shave. When ready to use it again, I insert the blade into the razor.
For my other razors — Edwin Jagger "Chatsworth" lined barley, EJ 89L, Muhle 89R, Merkur 38C 'barber pole' and my soon to own Mergress — I rinse them thoroughly and dry them. The blade, however, remains in the razors until time to change blades, which I do after the third shave
My regular blades are Feather, Super Iridium and Gillette 7 O'Clock "Sharp Edge" in the yellow packs. Now and then I use my Astra Superior Platinum blades, and once in a blue moon the Derby.
My Feather all stainless steel razor shaves differently from the Edwin Jaggers and the Merkur. From what I have read, the Pils, which has its own characteristics, will shave differently from the rest. I am looking forward to do a comparison shave. I will post my thoughts on these razors.
Thanks to the dearly beloved.
Regards,
Obie
