Gillette Identification
Does anyone recognize this DE razor? I bought it as part of a nice old shaving set with hair brush, and chrome tubes for brush and soap. It says "Made in England." It does not center the blade like other DE razors I have used, with pins on the top piece, but by the design of the edges of the razor. It is very light but seems to shave ok. Anybody know what it is, when it was made?
Thanks, H.

It is a Gillette Tech. 60's era and there will be a date code under the bottom plate. Letter and number for year and quarter.
That one has an aluminum handle and one made in the US was very similar and called a "Sport" I think, but can't swear.
It should be a good mild shaver.

Aluminum handled English Tech.

Thanks.
This razor has no date code. As far as I can tell the only writing is the large "Gillette" on the top and the "Made in England" stamp on the top of the lower plate.

You're okay.
IIRC, only US production have a date code.

That's a very nice looking razor--looks to me like it was used very little and taken care of very well. Nice purchase!

An aluminium Tech indeed. Nice shiny example, and a pretty good if mild shaver. I used to have one of those in the travel kit, before I started carting straights and strops around with me.

That Tech looks identical to my cousin's, who is originally from England. I've never shaved with one, but if memory serves me it was very light, small and skinny. My cous seems to like his; I prefer heavy DE's myself.
Nice find, enjoy!

An excellent find for a vintage razor. It shoud provide you with many close, smooth, comfortable shaves. Enjoy!
