Default So What Would You Take?

    Gentlemen:

From time to time I try to have fun with this subject: If you were to fade away to a cottage in a quaint little village to write your novel or film script, or create that masterpiece of a canvas, what double edge razor and shave products would you take?

Remember your razor is only a double edge (not a straight). I posted on this subject a year or two back, requiring a straight razor — next chance I get I will resurrect the subject with the straight, too. This time let's do the double edge. Only one example of each item, please. Here is my choice:

Double edge: Feather all stainless steel
    Blades: Feather
    Brush: Thater 24 mm.
    Pre-shave: Castle Forbes
    Soap: Martin de Candre
    Cream: Castle Forbes
    Nick repair: styptic pencil
    Astringent: alum block
    Balm: Trumper's Coral Skin Food
Aftershave: Truefitt & Hill's Spanish Leather
Incidental: Thayer's Super Medicated Witch Hazel with Aloe Vera

Again, only one item per category, please. Thanks.

    Regards,

    Obie

    DE: Edwin Jagger Chatsworth Barley
Blades: As I just started with a DE, and have only tried Derby and Feather, I will say Feather, though I'm still going through my options on that one
Brush: Joris European White Badger 22mm
    Pre: Primalan
    Soap: MWF
    Cream: Cella
    Nick: Styptic
    Astringent: Thayers Cucumber Witch Hazel
    Balm: TGR Unscented
AS: Shiseido Basala (only because it's the best I've tried so far, it's not absolutely what I want, but it does the job. If anyone has a recommendation for something with less musk and more woody scent compared to that, let me know)

    Ty

I don't have strong enough feelings about the products to give my opinions, but please let me know when the novel is done!

    Hello, Utopian:

About the novel, yes, of course.

As Snoopy wrote: "It was a cold and rainy day . . ." and later added, "Boy, writing is hard."

    I wouldn't take anything. I wouldn't shave until I finished the novel.

this is a tough one obie.. here goes.

    1959 gillette tech ball end
    feather blade
simpson wee scot in best badger
    pre de provence soap
    alum block (razorock)
    pinaud clubman bay rum
    pre de provence aftershave balm

this was tough.. i too almost chose martin de candre.. and my second choice was provence sante green tea.. however.. overall i prefer the scent of pre de provence for day to day and in the long haul..

also.. i appreciate having the alum block on hand.. i most likely would only use it on occasion...
the aftershave balm would only be used on days of brisk winds.
