    Default Question on Schick Injector

Hey, new to the safety/straight razor community. Been interested in picking a safety razor up for a while but was trying to find something locally for sale. I found this for one, but don't know to much about the Schick injector. Is this a good razor for a beginner? Can anyone identify which model this is, hard to price compare when I don't know exactly what it is and the $100 he is asking for seems a little steep. Not sure why he has DE blade in the picture.

    Thanks for the help.

I was also intrigued by the Schick injector. My memory is a bit hazy, but I think I learned to shave with one, fifty years ago.

I recently bought one on eBay (with some blades) for $20. It works _very_ well. The blades are sharp, and the small shaving head is very manouverable [sp?]. So as well as a straight-razor rotation, I've started a "safety razor" rotation -- Schick injector and Gillette Tech DE.

I think paying $100 for a Schick injector is crazy, unless you _know_ it's rare, and you're a serious collector. They're available for much less money, and there's no difference (except that some are adjustable) between the different models. Check eBay, and local antique / junk shops. There were a gazillion Schick's made -- I think they were in production for 50 years or so. And the first one, and the last one, use the same blade and injector.

I still have the one I bought 30+ yrs ago and have blades.

I don't see blades for injectors much anymore. I found the smaller shaving head of the injector more agile than the traditional DE. I typically used an adjustable.

    BrutusVP,

Looks like an 'E' or 'G' model Schick.

Please have a peek here :Schick Timeline

    100 USD seems a bit steep !!

    Have fun !

    Best regards

Bought mine on the bay. It cost me twice as much to have it shipped as I paid for it. Shipped for like $5.60, so I would run from the $100 one.

My friend Bill S gave me my first one of these gems. They are really nice shavers. I would agree with the guys to look for one in nice condition on ebay as the $100 seems way high to me too.

    Have fun,

They are nice! I have a Schick Adjustable I got for about 10 dollars. I have seen them in an antique store not far from me for about 5.00 each.

I would really like to get one. It seems so difficult though, the whole bidding thing, eBay, etc., it's too much trouble.

Gibbs, maybe I'll just drive out to MI.

I have 2 of these, one a De Luxe which if I recall was obtained in Edinburgh for less than £10. There is a spring clip which acts to clamp the SE blade and which on some versions can be made to swivel so that the razor can be cleaned. Some do not swivel and should not be forced as the razor would be ruined; if it does not move easily go no further! An excellent shave.
