Went to a antique shop today. I found these all together. Paid $25.00 for all. Good? Bad? Please give me your honest opinion. Thanks.

good find. MY first safety razor was a schick injector. MY girl has one she uses when she is at my place.
Looks like a pretty good haul for $25. Congrats and enjoy!
I decided to try out the red tip. This is the first time using a safety razor. Washed face, hot wet towel for couple minutes. Lathered face with saving soap. Went slow and easy. End result was a very smooth shave with a half dozen cuts. Finished off with Meehans Bay Rhum. Why the cuts?
safety razors have rather sharp corners, the slightest bit of pressure or the wrong angle usually remind you of this
You did well on the package.
. . . Use less pressure on the razor, for your next shave, and you'll have fewer cuts.
It could be that you're catching the corners of the blade, as well, but that hasn't been a problem for me. I've always used new blades, not "vintage" blades. Feather blades are my favorite, but they're not forgiving -- you can find "blade samplers" on the Internet that will let you experiment with the Red Tip.
I was amazed the first time I tried a Schick injector (after a 40-year lapse). They're very effective razors, and the small blade make beard- and moustache-trimming easy. That was with a "vintage" Schick blade.
We've been corrupted by the billions of dollars spent on advertising for multi-blade cartridges. They're idiot-proof, but they don't shave any better than the old gear.

The Schick (it looks like an 'E' or 'G' model) and the Gillette Red tip are fine shaving safety razors :)

How can you tell the age? when I bought this razor. The handle was a chalky white. I scrubbed it off to what it looks like now. Also, could DE blades that break work with this razor? ThanksQuote:

You _cannot_ use half of a standard DE blade -- it's too thin for the slot. But the reference above (from Badger and Blade) has a pointer to a way to use Feather "professional" single-edge blades, by cutting them down.

Nice find! On the bottom of the Gillette razor head is a date code. Letter on one side and a number from 1-4 on the other side. I saved the date codes to my computer. Might be something like J 3 or K 1 etc etc. Not necessarily those letters. It will be from A to Z usually omitting Q. The red tip denotes an aggressive razor with those "Super Speeds" They are a Twist To Open aka TTO razor. Best blades I have found are some Personna Med Preps, and also there is a Russian blade called Polsilver. The Israeli Personna are not too bad of a blade either. You want to use a blade that is kind of matched to the aggressiveness of the razor, meaning it should not only be sharp but smooth shaving. I shave daily with DE and have not nicked or cut myself with one, unless there is a mosquitoe bite.
I buy Injector razor blades at the local pharmacy. They are still out on the shelves and you can even find them at Amazon.com

Then, you can always go to Amazon.com and pick up a very mild DE razor, either the TTO Feather for around 19.00 or the Wilkinson Sword for a little less. Both hold the blades well and give nice shaves, and a lot less agressive than the Red Tip.
