The old gillette blues are my wife's favorite blades. We haven't found a new blade that even comes close in her opinion.

Another generous member is sending me a pack of some blades to try out as well. i currently have 14 straight razors, but hopefully i will get some more DEs.. i might join the dark side and get a fat boy next!!

First, Is shaving with DE razor the dark side? lol. I made the switch from DE razors to straights last week. From what I have read, the angles at which one should hold a straight differs according to the direction of the shave (i.e. WTG, XTG and ATG). The right angle for each DE razor is slightly different and it takes a little time to get used to them. When you try an adjustable razor, the angle will also be slightly different (I found a slight different in the angle depending on the setting of the adjustable razor). Once you are used to adjusting to the correct angle of the DE automatically, you will not have any problems trying a different razor.

My first DE shaves were with some blue "Bill's Blades" I didn't rip any skin off and they did ok. I have been using the Red Personnas since then and love them. Of course I will always prefer straight shaving.

I have to second the "anything is better than a Dorco" sentiment. I've used an old gillette blade and it was fine, certainly better than a Dorco. :>
