Default Question reguarding the EJ Chatsworth.

I've read for the most part some very high opinions of the Edwin Jagger Chatsworth DE razor. These have centered around the all metal handled Barley version. But there is something grabbing me about the imitation ivory handled Chatsworth model. I notice that there is a weight difference between the two. What are your thoughts on the Ivory Chatsworth? I'm really thinking about buying one.

    Thanks, Jim

Many people like the chatsworth. It is a personal preference on the razor. I personally prefer shorter handled razors, like the merkur HD or the EJ 89l. From what I have heard from different people, it is a good razor. I know the EJ 89L which uses the same head. I do not know about the balance of the razor. If you like the razor, then guy it.
    Hope you like it

Thanks methos for your input. I just like the looks of that imitation ivory and chrome. Because of the weight difference between the two I don't know anything about the balance. I will probably get one of the Chatsworth's very soon. The razor that I really want to get is the Feathers stainless but I can't find it anywhere. If you have a line on one please let me know.

    Thanks, Jim

I can't help you with the ivory chatsworth. I have the barley and I think ergonomic wise it is the perfect size and weight and feels about the most perfect in the hand and on the face. I also have the feather. I don't remember where I got it however I'm sure if you check the usual sources you will find one.

Reguarding the Chatsworth; I am torn between the looks (to my eye) of the Ivory and the high praise of the all metal Chatsworth, especially the barleycorn. I have to admit that they both appear very nice. I may just flip a coin. I'm sure that I would be happy with either.

As for the Feather AS; The workmanship is what appeals to me but finding one well thats another story. I've been looking in all the right places without success. Over time I'm sure the dealers will be getting more in.

In the meantime I'm going to order the following EJ Chatsworth..................

    Thanks,Jim

    Hello Jim,
I have owned both Edwin Jagger "Chatsworth" razors you mention and both are stunning. You're looking at classy razors. The all-metal one is a touch heavier. You will be pleased with either one.

    ***Note***

The English Shaving Company (theenglishshavingcompany.com) has the Edwin Jagger. Also, worldwide shipping is free until Dec. 5.

Well I just placed my order. I ended up purchasing the Edwin Jagger Ivory Chatsworth and a Edwin Jagger 89 in barley, the DE89BA11 to be specific. Damn I'm weak

I have the Chatsworth in imitation horn. You're going to love the Jagger. I actually prefer the longer handle DE's and the Chatsworth is a perfect size, I think.

Thanks blitz for your words of encouragement. I'm hoping to have my box of goodies by the middle of the week.

Well I received my new EJ Ivory Chatsworth yesterday and today shaved with it for the first time. The blade I used was a Personna Red Israel and D.R. Harris shaving cream. I have to say that I am very happy with this razor. Both in performance and in looks. Highly recommended.

    Jim
