Wow! I've never seen this razor before. That's extremely cool. I know you mentioned honing the blades. Does this take special blades and does it come with a system to hone them like a Rolls razor, or are you having to improvise in order to get a razor like this shave ready?

I dig it. But I know I'd want to shave with it. I'm not much of pure collector of things. This Henkels reminds of a fancier version of my 1912 Ever Ready and Gem. I've got RAD for one!

Haha... yeah, it's blades are basically just a piece of hollow ground straight razor blade. Its not like the Rolls though; where the Rolls has it's own built in hone/strop mechanism. This one has a little handle that the blade slips into so you can hone it and strop it. Using the handle to hone makes it act more like a straight, but if you use it, it also wears the guard down that slips over the blade as well, so I haven't used it. I've got one blade sharp enough that I have shaved with it, but it wasn't as comfortable as I'd like, and there's no way I could use it every day, because taking the blade in and out of the handle, and putting it in and taking it out of the stropping handle, and stropping the blade.... it's quite the process. haha They used to make a handle with a roller that was made for those old hollow ground SE blades, and they made them easy to hone, so I'll probably get one eventually. Also, I am in the market for one of the strops made for those type blades, as well. They had an attachment that clipped onto the strop and rolled the blade back and forth so they were really easy to strop. That's the only problem with the hollow ground SE razors; they're awesome and really cool... but you have to buy a whole mess of stuff to make them easier to use if you plan on using them every day.

Makes shaving with a straight seem so simple and easy. That is one cool looking razor though...

My favourite is an Ever-Ready Streamline made in the U.K. Shaves like a dream, I get a BBS every time. I think it's from the 1940's or 1950's.

Next is another Ever-Ready - a Lather Catcher from the very early 1900's - it has a well-used appearance, but after shaving with it, I can see why...

Love the Lather Catcher. I would really like to find one in good condition, just haven't seen one for a reasonable price yet. Sweet shaver!

I have a 1914 Ever Ready - often called "the Little Lather Catcher". A nice shaver for sure, but not quite the shavers the early 1900's Lather Catchers are, so I'm told.

The Lather Catchers occasionally show up on ebay - I got lucky and picked one up last month for a great price - I don't think they knew what they had. I used to have a Little Lather Catcher, but sold it as I found it didn't shave as close as it's big brother.
