    Default Victory is Mine!

My son has finally caved. After years of being ridiculed for "shaving with plastic crap" and "using women's razors" he finally surrendered, I gifted him my 1960 Fatboy, an Omega boar brush and some Arko. He's off and running and loving it. Now for phase II of my plan. I figure in a year or two curiousity will get the best of him and he'll inquire about straights. It happens to the best of us, right?

However, the Fatboy was one of my favorites so I suppose I'll be in the market for a new one soon. I don't often use safety razors these days but the mood does strike occassionally.

Very Cool--and fifty years from now at least a few times a week, he'll use your razor(s) and legacy. Nice.

    Excellent!

What was the reason behind his resistance?

I'm guessing a little bit of fear but mostly it was "Gee, that kind of shaving takes a long time." I often pointed out that while it did take a little longer than what he was used to, the additional time was well worth the effort. I think on a couple of occassions I likened it to making love to a beautiful woman all night long as opposed to two and a half minutes of vigorous self abuse In case you're wondering, he's 21

If he's only 21, he's justed getting going. Good that you got him to switch to a DE. Like you said....maybe in a few years...

Open razors are great but obviously not for everyone (nor all the time). The DE is king by default when considering total categories of: 1) safety (yeah, I know..) 2) speed/convenience 3) frugality 4) shave quality 5) secondary product availability.

I think "we" win everytime someone is converted to DE.
