Found two of these going through a box of junk. They both had shavwell blades in them. Anyone one have a idea when they were made? Im guessing 50s.Name: IMG00788-20120328-2009.jpg

Think you're off by about 50yrs. Believe that they were US razors made about the same time Gillette started making razors. 1900-1912'ish.

*nods* looks like an early SE, so 1900-1920 would be about right. Clean it up, pop an SE blade intended for shaving, and let us know.

Go to walgreens for the blades, not home depot... They look the same, but are not...

I doubt i ever try to shave with them. From reading some of the post they sound tricky and about half dangerous. lol

If you don't want to try it, send it to me, I will. That thing looks cool! Congrads on the find!

In my experience, single edge razors are about half way between a DE and a straight. They are absolutely more aggressive, and can give you a nastier cut than a DE, but they are a safety razor, so they are a little tamer and easier to work with than a straight.
