Default Fiance is slowly getting into the DE world

So I ordered her a Rose shave stick last week from Mama Bear Soap and she liked it...so I figured lets see if she will go for a try with a DE. Picked up a Merkur Futur with some Merkur blades and set it to 1.5...so far so good. She said it was pretty easy to use and her legs are much smoother for allot longer then with the cartridge razor and canned soap.

She's using a cheap synthetic brush now, I'll have to pick her up a better brush for sure (maybe she'll get the bug)

Any preferences from the ladies here? Boar, Best Badger, or Silver Tip? Not sure what would work best on the legs... a stiffer brush or something a little softer?

    Thanks,

    Jon

I am slowly suggesting this to my wife. I plan on buying a DE for myself and asked her if she might like to use it.

Her reply, "I remember using those. I also remember cutting myself a lot."

Personally I've never owned one, yet.

    Crotalus,

The Futur is a bit expensive but I figured since it can be adjusted a good deal, that would give her some flexibility in trying it. Even if she tried to fly through the process like a cartridge, the setting of 1 would minimize any burn or cutting IMO.

    Good luck!

An adjustable DE is a great place to start. I quickly discovered exactly what I wanted from my razor and purchased accordingly. In my experience a good mellow DE is much less aggressive than an adjustable is on its lowest setting.
As for the brush i have and like a nice boar brush, but my husband turns brushes and has a variety for me to choose. My favorite so far has been an 18 mm two banded silvertip. I get the stiffness that I like and still the luxurious softness of the silvertip.
