No comparison if you mean like a Bic. They are a totally different animal. With a DE you get about as close as you can to a straight without all the fuss (excepting of course disposable shavette types.)
uhh wow the difference would be like the difference between masturbation and fornication....same end result, one just feels better. Dramatic generalization, but you get the point. You should pick up a DE, a pack of Astra's, a boar brush and a stick of arko and test for yourself. It really is night and day.
I used to use a Fusion razor. The 5 bladed monster. I started to use a DE not too long ago and the improvement was huge. I didn't like using the Fusion because of cost, and also if I shaved every day I would get some zesty razor burn. Plus the canned gel foam wasn't that great.
Using a DE and some nice shaving cream is a dream compared to that old POS. Plus new blades are so much cheaper. I just bought a pack of 100 Shark blades for $15.88. Good luck finding cartridge razors for that.
:rofl2:
I actually did laugh out loud. Good thing nobody was near.
The previous analogy is very appropriate in kind of an inappropriate way lol and made me think I should stop reading this thread before I went blind :p I used to use a Fusion, Nivea canned cream and aftershave for 'sensitive' skin and dealt with 5 alarm razor burn, bumps and complete hopelessness that I was doomed to shave that way forever. After switching to a double edge safety razor, getting some nice soaps, creams, pre shave oil, a quality brush, alum block, Thayers alcohol free witch hazel aftershave, shaving has been a complete joy and bumps and burn are gone forever!
There really is no comparison between something like a Bic and a decent DE razor. Just treat yourself to a decent brush and shaving soap for the complete experience. :-)
