    Default Amazing first de shave!

After reading Obie's article this month about Edwin Jagger safety razors I decided to give it a try. I bought my very first de, an Edwin Jagger Barley. Wow what an amazing and easy shave and I haven't even gotten to the better blades. My face has a little irritation after 5 days of sr shaving but its no worse after the de.

I was a little nervous after reading some of the posts regarding de shaving. It was as easy as a cartridge and way better than the 5 blades.

I am not done with straights but this gives me a way better option for those days when I am pressed for time.

I have to say the Edwin Jagger razor is a real work of art and a nice addition to my shave den.

Today was my first DE shave. I am completely blown away, the glide was sooo smooth, effortless and close close close! ive been using straights for a couple of months but mostly shavettes. bought SWMBO a merker DE and finally gave it a shot. may never go back. i love the coolness factor of the str8 but if the end result is what were after then its hands down the DE.

I completely agree, what a great shave. My dad died when I was 12 and I never saw him use anything other than cartridge razors. I don't know why grandad gave up the de. I can say my grandson will know about de razors when he is old enough to shave.

Everything is on a continuum. Someone using an electric thinks it's great. The same with a cartridge user and a DE user and a shavette and a straight. Once you become proficient in each and learn it's limitations and move on to the next you learn a straight gives the best shave. However if you do not master it or don't have the desire to a DE still gives a great shave.

Many of us who use mainly straights use a DE as a change or when we are in a hurry.

I started shaving with des after straights as well. I do get a great shave from them and love collecting them. I am still Working on my technique with straights so my de shaves are generally closer thus far.

I love straights and won't switch completely but my de razors certainly are in the rotation.

Another one here who found DE after SR. I've tried quite a few blades in my Gillette adjustable now - yet to find one that doesn't tear up my neck area though. DE are great in a hurry, but nothing on a good keen straight IME.

Good show, my friend. Yes, DE shaving can offer enormous satisfaction. No reason to give up the straight, of course. I use both types. What's more, you have chosen a superb DE razor in that Edwin Jagger barley as your first. Please let me know if I can help out. You are more than welcome to send me a personal message. Well done.

Saturday is DE day for me and I really enjoy it. I get a 'better' shave with a DE because I can go ATG on ALL hairs. I find a DE shave almost disappointingly easy most of the time. I like the technicality of skill and fundamental minimalist nature of a straight, but I also like the design of DEs and their 'coolness'. I love Astra blades and see no reason at the moment to even try another brand.

Obie got me in to shaving with a DE and I'm eternally grateful...
