    Default ATG nose?

I never tried DE before. I've been using a straight and touching up spots with a disposable razor. I was thinking of buying a DE to use for touching up and for shaving when I'm pressed for time. To get a BSS on my nose I always go ATG. Do any of you go ATG with a DE?

    Default ATG nose?

    On or *under* the nose?

For most the grain under the nose makes ATG passes interesting, but possible with skill and experience.

I go ATG with a DE on a few spots on my face, but not under my nose. I find WTG and XTG gets that area very smooth without the need for ATG.

I use a DE ATG under the nose. Took a little practice. No problems.

If you're talking about the philtrum (sometimes spelled philtrim), it would seem to me that the only safe ways to shave it are WTG and ATG passes. I would never attempt an XTG on that part of my upper lip. (Of course, YMMV.)

My stubble is like wire bristle. If I want a decent shave, I have no choice but to go ATG -- including on my philtrum. It isn't all that different from ATG with a straight razor.

PS: ATG on my philtrum is a buffing stroke. On either side of it on my upper lip I use ATG guillotine. That gets the job done with a minimum of razor burn. What's good with my straights is good with my DEs. ;-)

It's actually not nearly hard as you might think. All you need to do is flatten out the skin as much as possible and have a steady hand. with a light touch the blade will glide over the contours with no problem and, more importantly, no blood

I should also mention that this works with both DE's and straights.

Yes, just grasp your upper lip and pull down until it's at the bottom of your chin. See wasn't that easy?

having a mustache I don't have that issue but I use a DE to shave my son and for his lip cross grain seems to do the trick very nicely. ATG is too easy to cut yourself.

I go ATG under my nose but you have to be careful because that's a sensitive area.

Compared to a disposable cartridge razor, how much more difficult would you say using the DE is for touching up?
