Default Got My 1st Open Comb

I was the lucky recipient of a RazoRock Jaws Open Comb (Cadet) via a PIF. I have had two shaves with it now and really like it. Both shaves have been very close, smooth, nick & burn free! I am using a Personna Med Prep. The only real difference that I notice is the different sound and feel on my face.

In general, open combs are more aggressive and give a closer shave. Of course there is a lot of range there.

Yea, open combs are a bit more aggressive. The old model Gillette OC I find very aggressive, the New Improved OC a little aggressive and the New OC to be between the first two. Still prefer OC DE razors for their slim heads, a close and non clogging shave compared to DEs with bars.

That RazoRock Cadet looks good and may have a head similar to the Gillette New Improved OC by the looks of it. Should be a very nice shaver if that is the case.

I am leaning towards an open comb for my next purchase. It's great to hear that your first two shaves with the razor have had nice results. Congrats!

I only have one open comb, yes it is aggressive but I can't complain at all about the shaves it delivers. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another OC.

Q: What did the bald man say to his comb?
A: I'll never part with you!

From my experience, not all open-comb razors are aggressive. For example, I have a lovely, silver-plated, thick-handled, "Old Style" Gillette Tech, which is an open-comb design, but as mild a shaver as I've ever owned or used. OTOH, both of my Gillette "Big Fellow" razors (1921 "Old Style", and 1925 "New Improved") are quite aggressive shavers. That old rooster in the barnyard has a big 'ol bright-red comb, and he's aggressive as all get-out, but you can't shave with him worth a darn... just sayin'.
You can have everything, and still not have enough.
I'd give it all up, for just a little more.

It's a slippery slope, watch your step there Bob.

I went from learning to the DE, to DE/OC, to SR (and honing and stropping, OH MY) in just about a year.

I now only use SR or open-combed Gillettes. Nothing else ever. one-year, time FLIES!

Same here. I spotted one a couple weeks ago at a pretty affordable price. It's supposed to be ruthenium plated... I don't really know what for, though.

    Cheers.

These are supposed to be Fatip/Joris clones (the head anyway). However, the RazoRock OC (exactly like the OP's) that I have is certainly very mild compared to the Joris.

It's a good shaver, but it doesn't match my requirements (I like my razors a little more aggressive). It is also very pretty.

I was back with Jaws this morning. 4th shave using the Personna Med Prep. I got another very close and smooth shave. It will go into my rotation. I really didn't know what to expect, but I am very happy with the results.

My 3rd shave was great too!
