Will someone please educate me as to what this is and how it works. If you know of a video I would prefer that but if one doesn't exist, a well-worded explaination will do.
There are currently several of them on eBay and before I purchase one for either myself or to give to a local barber/ beautician for her collection, I would like to know how to use the crazy thing. I would also like to know what to look for to ensure I do not buy an eBay turd.
    Thank you for your support.

Hi. I have a few. It is surely easy to buy a bad one. Condition is everything. Don't buy if the hone is very worn looking or cracked (common). Strop must be nice.
These shave great when good, but are often abused and assembled incorrectly, causing damage. Blade needs to be nice. No pits or nicks in edge. NO RUST! They are a pain to hone! Spend a bit more and get one which appears NOS and has the instructions. I can scan instructions and send if you get one without them.
    Neat things when they work!
    Tom

Yes, be very wary of cracked hones, of the three I have one has a cracked hone. Yes, they are a PITA to hone being so small and I do them on my hones used for straights. Boy, do they shave when done up right.
