"I don't always shave with a DE; but when I do, I use Israeli Personna blades."
Seriously; I spent the mid-2000s shaving with a variety of Gillette DE safety razors, and early-on I discovered Israeli Personna blades. No; they don't have the stereotypically "rough" Israeli personna :argue: -- they're just made there... and, they seem to work better than many others (and last as-long, if not longer). And, like the Israeli whom I am, I am loathe to part with them. I think of it as the Paul Masson Principle applied to shaving: "We will toss no razor blade before its time."
To make a long story short: I used to get a week's-worth of shaves from one blade (that's six shaves).
Smooth shaving!
I get 4 good shaves on a good blade using my DE. A fresh blade per shave would be best for me, but I'd rather save the money.
However, when I used a shavette, I noticed that my shaves improved--and I didn't cut myself much--when I kept using the same (1/2) blade through the week. A new blade per shave ended up chopping up my face. I switched from the shavette to a SR a couple of months ago, so I don't have that issue any more. :)
Well, reading this, i could be an ET. In my personal case I do use every lade for about a month. The reason is that my beard is strong and sometimes I have about 5 to 6 hairs in the same folicule, when that happends I have to pull it until I eliminate it from the skin. That sometimes makes me shave one day and the next day no. In terms of days I would say 2 weeks.
thanks

Gentlemen:
I use a new blade each shave.
I use Merkur blades. I seem to not be man enough for Feathers as I tend to cut myself alive. With the Merkur, I actually find the best shaves after my 4th shave. I swap it maybe after 7 shaves.
I have been using a Merkur Futur for 3 years now which is widely known for being awfully aggressive. Still playing with the settings.
I get 3-4 shaves per blade. I've experimented with palm stropping, and it does work, but it seems to only stretch out a blade for another shave or two. I read about how some guys get 5-10 shaves from a blade, but that's not my experience at all. You could change the blade after every shave but IMO that's wasteful.
I use to use a blade more than once but... I would take it out after each shave , wash it off, dry it, oil the edges , put it back into its paper, And stick it on a magnet so I wouldn't lose it. Seeing that I used very reasonably priced blades and alway bought them by the 100 on sale... I said ; what am I doing!!! One time and gone.
Right now using open razors and Shavettes. With the shavette I use the Derby professional 1/2 blades. Think a box of 100 individually wrapped was less than 5$us. Less than 5 cents a shave. I don't use them more than once.
I replace my blade every week, it makes it easier to keep up with when it needs to be changed. In a week's time I usually shave only 3 or 4 times with a safety razor, most days I try to shave with a straight razor, time permitting.
I was might shave with a start shaving with a de again to
be able to use my stropper devices for my vintage de blades.
but i was thinking about storing the one in use in a container of mineral oil.
There it is a little hard to find ones not rusty.
