    Default First (recent) DE shave

Tried shaving with a safety razor a few years ago but that was before Al Gore invented the internet. I had no idea what I was doing and ended up a bloody mess. Tonight, I once again gave DE shaving a shot and things came out much better. Edwin Jagger de89l, Derby blade, Taylor of Old Bond Street shaving creme, and a badger brush. I did draw a little blood on my neck but the shave was great. No pulling or drag at all. Not sure what happened on my neck but I'll try to be more careful tomorrow. Overall, a great experience.

I've also purchased a straight razor but I want to get the whole wet shaving thing down first.

I'm thinking about getting a DE as well. Are you guys using an adjustable razor or fixed?

I've never had more than the odd weeper from a DE (no blood spurting cuts or gashes), but the only ways to cut yourself are a) horizontal movement and b) steep angle. You likely had a steep angle on your neck and didn't realize it. Anyway, glad it was a pleasant experience for you.

Just ordered a Gillette "Black Beauty" to give DE a try as a diversion from straights.
