Gentlemen-
Can anyone familiar with both the Weber and Titan H1 safety razors give their opinion as to why the Titan is over 2.5 times the price of the Weber?

I would imagine it's because folks are willing to pay so why not ask pie in the sky prices if you owned the company?
So - you're thinking it's a P.T. Barnum thing? :D
There on sale or were, at 6-7 bucks higher than the Tradere. Both I think are still high, but your paying for a SS DE that an artisan has made *sigh*. Wish I could afford one or both of these makes, it's just not practical for me at those prices. So I would say these are for a niche market witch is funny because I think as Straight & DE users we're all ready one. So I bought a Weber, price is at the top of my range for a SS DE . I also have a Goodfella also in the Weber price range, both are nice and work well, plus affordable. I thought about selling some of my collection of Gillette's that I don't use and start collecting the artisan SS DE's I think that would buy at least one of them. The appeal to me is that one or two people took the time to make them and they're USA manufactured, I would think production would be limited compared to a larger outfit like EJ, Merkur, Muhle IMO
Hy I m a new member from Slovenia,I m also new in wet shaving. So far I purchased three razors,MUHLE r41-WEBER and TITAN H1.I shave with WEBER today, and I use the best possible guillete-the POLSILVER super iridium ,but when compared with the combination TITAN H1 and simple astra blade I think the TITAN is superior, and something special. The WEBER is also good ind I like it a lot, but he can not compare with the new TITAN H1.You must also try the new PRORASO red shaving cream and some:
Vulfix Super Badger 2235 shaving brush or Vulfix 404 shaving brush.I also bought cheap horse brushes from BESTSHAVE.net,for that price is the best buy.
Sory four bad English.
I just got the Weber a week ago myself and like it. I would like to get my hands on a Titan but can't afford it. Glad you like them both. Be careful with the R41, I have one of those too and they definitely, IMO command a little more respect. The R41 will take the hairs and some skin with it and you won't even know it. Welcome to SRP!
Gentlemen:
I have the Titan H1 on the way and will give you my thoughts after several shaves with different blades. The Weber, of course, I find a superb shaver. The finish on the new ones is far from the best in the world, but no Weber has given me a disappointing shave — and I have owned and sold several.
Obie-
Since the Weber is stainless, is it right to assume that by "finish" you are referring to the level of polish, or finish in the broader sense that includes the fit of the components snd machining tolerences, stuff like that.
Also, how do you like the Weber compared to the feather, which I know you like.
Thanks- Gags
Gags, yes, the finish looked inferior. Mine came with minor scratches on the upper plate. Underneath and on the lower plate the finish is still in matte. I prefer the old finishes of the ARC and the DLC. The two razors were distinctive. Now the Weber looks like any other razor.
As for comparing it to the Feather, the two razors are worlds apart. I am quite fond of the Feather despite its being too mild for me. I love shaving with the Feather, but I rarely get a close shave. Here I think comfort wins over closeness. Feather and Super Iridium blades work quite well in my Feather.
The Weber is far more aggressive than the Feather, and, for me, a far better shaver. I've never had a bad shave or an irritating one with the Weber. I love the way this razor shaves. Of the three, I still prefer the DLC, especially for the way the finish seems to hug my face. I have tried the razor with numerous blades. Last week I matched it with the Personna red pack. What a sweet combination. Loved the shave. I think I have found the right blade for my Weber.
Indeed, I find the Weber one in a group of top shavers. I'll know about the Titan soon enough.
I'll be interested to hear too Obie. I still like the old Progress with Feather blades. The Weber is OK. Of all out there right now, the Ikon is my favorite. Great mix of not too aggressive, but really gets the job done close and comfortable in addition to being a beautiful razor.
Thanks.
I, too, am fond of the Progress, Lynn. I usually match it with the Gillette 7 O'Clock yellows or Super Iridium. Indeed, the Progress is a fine razor. I had the iKon OSS, the split personality razor with the dual shave head. The shave was frustrating. I have never used the other iKon models. I would have loved to have one of the old open combs, but despite the hard search, I did not find one. I am looking forward to ordering the new iKon models, both the open and closed comb.
I hear ya. I am liking the open comb for first pass and then the bar side for the clean up though. Took a bit to adjust to, but it's a nice razor. I'm gonna have to try the Super Iridium's.
Yes, the iKon OSS is a handsome razor, and well made. I used the razor in the same way as you, but even that got on my nerves. In retrospect, I think I should have given it a chance. In the meantime, I can't wait to try the new models.
By far the Titan H1 is more aggressive then the Weber. I have tried several blades in the Hi including a Kai & Polsilver Super Iridium. Incredibly close with only two passes. I did own the R41 (2011) and it was too much for me. Aggressive is an under statement although some guys can handle it. I think Obie will like the H1 provided he doesn't exceed two passes.
Thanks for your thoughts, blueman. Yes, I'm sure I will like the Titan H1. And, yes, two passes will do it. That's what I do with the FaTip, Joris and the other aggressive razors. I'll keep everyone apprised of my Titan adventure. By the way, I bought and sold the Muhle R41 three times. The razor shaved remarkably well and close without nicks or razor burn, but I could not make myself like the thing. Finally I came to the conclusion that the Muhle R41 is just a mean razor.
Obie, you must have a pallet of Iridiums stashed away at your house, I haven't seen them around in quite some time....
Hello Ryan:
Yes, I do have a stash of Super Iridium blades, which I guard within a perimeter of claymore mines. World, keep out!
Super Iridium is now produced under the name Polsilver Iridium, in Poland, I believe. Here is a link:

Stay well.
I haven't had them for a few years now, but I remember them being superb blades. Cheers for the link :)
You are very welcome, Ryan. Yes, they are superb blades. For me, they work in all my DE razors, although now I use them, along with Feather blades, mostly in the Feather stainless steel.
Incidentally, my new Titan H1 arrived in the mail. What a stunning razors. It oozes with quality. In the next couple days I'll post my thoughts — not an official review — on the Titan. I think it deserves a separate post.
The last time I stocked up on blades I must have bought about 50 packs of the Iridiums. That was years ago. I still have a supply. They are great blades, about as close to an all purpose blade as I can think of.
