    Default Gillette Super Speed "Tips"

    Gentlemen-
Could someone please describe the general differences (if any) between the Red Tip, Blue Tip, and Black Tip Super Speeds? The entry for a Red Tip on Ebay I was looking at stated that the Red Tip was more aggressive, so I wanted to get the full story from those who know.

    Thanks, Gags

Gillette made the various tips to designate aggressiveness. The Red Tip was the most aggressive the blue IIRC the least. This was before they developed the adjustable. So a person could try one or the other and use whichever suited them. I've always liked the red tip. I wouldn't have any use for the less aggressive models. If I'm not mistaken the level of exposure and possibly blade angle of the different models determined the aggressiveness.

    Thanks -
Did they adopt this system at some point in time and stop producing the non-colored tips?

Yeah the adjustable took over the field. It was very popular. They still made super speeds for a time but not with the varying tips/aggressiveness.
