I'm putting all my straights up for sale on Ebay!
Well that's the "war cry" of many an author (using a DE saves you money). As many of us know... once it becomes a "hobby," then its all over isn't it - with respect to saving money anyway.
What so many seem to neglect stating though is how much better your shaves become by using a product that's not throw-away. I personally think there is something to that. That and using wet shaving techniques - really adds to the experience that is shaving, and that's almost priceless. Well it was for me and I know my wife is well pleased too :).
That said - I think he's right. If you keep it simple, stick to a razor or two, don't get bogged down in complimentary items, you can save a fortune! I know of one guy personally who has done just that.
But if you do what I have found more than a few guys on these forums who began with a DE - give straights a go. All savings are lost forever :). Because as we all know - you can't have just one straight :).
Yea, gotta agree with David. I always considered the you will save money/it is greener as not holding much water once wet shaving becomes a hobby. More like just another way to rationalize a hobby.

I'm not sure about his idea to wipe them down to make them last longer. They are pretty much stainless so they won't rust anyway and wiping will take off the coatings. He doesn't say how many shaves they should last.
This says what i have to say, better:

I'm not sold on the white bath robe, he should have did the video in a "wife beater" with a little spaghetti sauce on it.
Nothing very controversial there I don't think. If you do use the Fusion and switch to DE blades you will save money:)
I'm pretty sure blades do get some flash rust on a micro level on the bevel and alcohol and a hairdryer will probably get you an extra shave or two.
If you take that much interest and care of your razor however it's likely to become a hobby and as everyone points out...that's where the saving becomes a short-lived thing :)
