So I've been using Wilkinson Sword blades but recently I've noticed that Walmart has been sold out. Im out of blades and in need of some new ones. Can anyone recommend some DE blades that are decent and can typically be found locally?

The generic or store brand blades available at Walgreen's (maybe CVS and others, haven't checked) are OK. Not great, but not terrible. Better than a played out blade, for sure.
The Walgreen's (I've always assumed it's possessive) blades are also pretty pricey for what they are, but if it's all you have, it's all you have.
The Wilk's are about $10 for 10 blades here. We're better off getting ours from online sources, as the stores are limitied and expensive. Wilk's online are much more reasonably priced. I've not tried them myslef though.
Apart from that, I've got nothing constructive to say...Not that what I said was very constructive, but I do like to yap :).

Well I had been using the Wilkinson's because here you can pick up a pack of 10 for about $1.50 or so at Wal-Mart. They're cheap and seem to do a pretty good job, although I havent tried any other brands. Im just leary of trying out the ones at CVS/Walgreens/etc, even though they are more expensive cause they just seem shady.
Funny you should say that, because I've always thought the Wilk's were a bit shady, yet so many people say try them out, they're good! :)

Perhaps this is a good opportunity to experience a variety of other blades. None is available locally, to my knowledge, but you can order online for minimal shipping. Try a sampler pack. I assure you that will not regret the experience of trying these blades.
I went to a 'salvage' store and found some Wilkinson's for even cheaper-99 cents. You can also try a Bed, Bath and Beyond. They have a bunch of shaving gear. You might find them there. Anyway, I would also say try a sampler packer from somewhere if you can shell out the cash.
I'll check out some variety packs online and see what I can find, although Im sort of in a pinch as I've been on my last Wilkinson for about 6 shaves now, and thats way more then I usually use them for. So Im kind of desperate for new blades and waiting for shipping is going to suck. I didnt know that Bed, Bath, & Beyond had mens shaving stuff so I will check them out as well and see what they have. Im trying to reduce how much I use my DE so I dont want to buy too many blades all at once, but maybe I should have hoarded some blades before they all dried up.
i bought the $ store/walgreens/cvs/drug mart blades ( by me all seem to be the same maker) as well as the wilkinson blades while waiting on a sample pack ... so far in my gillette super speed the blades at those stores listed above have out performed the wilkinsons & any blade from the sample pack i received ( least my face perfers them ) so i think its worth a shot .... i do need to try the wilks in my other razors though cause like you said there cheap at walmart here in the U.S. and i think i paid $5 for the ones at the drug stores and $3 (i think ) at the dollar store
Thats great information gooser. I'll probably try some of the dollar store/drug store blades and see how my face likes them. I figure that for simple touch ups and maybe even ATG passes they will probably work out alright. It is interesting though that you prefer the "no name" brands over the more readily known blades. That puts me at ease in trying them.
that has only been the case with my super speed though !! my slim adjustable dont like them on any setting ..lol..i pretty new to the DE and i never thought that there could be such a difference in blades on ones face until i got the sample pack though .. if i remember right i think in another post someone had mentioned that they think these drug store blades are Personna blades but idk , i jus know the ones by me all come in the same blade case ,blades look identical , and only difference is the packaging
Well being that I will shave tomorrow probably and will more than likely need my DE for touch ups, I stopped off at the dollar store down the street from my house and they had a pack of 5 blades for a dollar. They are packaged in the Dollar General packaging, so I dont know what brand they actually could be, but I will give them a try and see what I think. I post back with the results one I've had a shave with them. Although, Im sure they will be better then my old worn out blade that I've been using. Longevity will probably be the key with these.
Walmart also sells the Gillette DE blades, (at least in the locations near me), and they seem to work fine. If not, it's easy enough to order some online. :)
Well I tried out the dollar store blades this morning and just wanted to give you guys a little update on them real quick.
They are certainly better then the worn out Wilkinson I had been using, but to me, they are not as good as the Wilkinson blades. They seemed to be a bit rough in comparison and also drew more blood. The nicks stopped bleeding quickly, but there were still quite a few of them. Maybe next time I use it, it will work better, but right out of the gate they are harsh.
I think that's great advice. Find what you like and order them in bulk from a reputable online shave place.
I like Medical Personna and a good place to get them is Robbins Instruments Personna Double Edge Prep Blades - Robbins Instruments - Medical Instruments. The postage is expensive but blades are well worth it to me.
Well Walmart finally got in some more Wilk's before my latest visit so I picked up two packs of 10. That'll last me for a good little while considering I also use a SR too now. Although today I loaded one into my DE and gave it a go and man oh man, its weird how something so simple can have such drastic effects on your shave cause that fresh Wilk left my face utterly BBS with absolutely no nicks or cuts.
Any store brand blade that comes in the metal and plastic container, with the slot to put used blades on the back of the container, and with the little arrows on the blade showing you which way to slide it out of the container, is made by Personna. That was a ridiculously long sentence. Anyway, the first thing I did when I started wet shaving was try every blade available in town. Everything I use now I get online, but in an emergency (forget to pack blades on a trip, or whatever) I know where I can walk in and get the best substitute.
