It is very hard to select a razor for another person. Is you skin smooth or do you have acne, moles, scar tissue, etc.? Is you skin sensitive, is your beard coarse? From personal experience, I found SB razors like the EJ 89 to be hard to use on my skin which is not smooth. I found mild OC razors worked best for me. I need very sharp blades as my beard is very hard to cut. With a Derby, Merkur, Sharp, Astra and many other blades, I get pulling or they won't cut at all. I use Feather, PolSilver Iridium, an occasional Gillette 7 o'clock or Shark. The more information you provide the better the advice you will get. Good shaving.
The tale is doon, and God save al the rowte!

matloffm's comments are correct for me, as well....the DE89 was OK, but I needed a Feather blade and ultimately a more aggressive razor. Open Comb may be the answer, but it could be too aggressive. It is not always easy to find the "right" DE and a blade that works! Blade samplers are inexpensive and worth trying. I sometimes use a Weber Stainless with a Bulldog handle and if I use the DE89 the Weber handle helps (shorter and heavier).....lots of choices and options to consider?
