    Default Blades

So I've been using Wilkinson Sword blades but recently I've noticed that Walmart has been sold out. Im out of blades and in need of some new ones. Can anyone recommend some DE blades that are decent and can typically be found locally?

The generic or store brand blades available at Walgreen's (maybe CVS and others, haven't checked) are OK. Not great, but not terrible. Better than a played out blade, for sure.

The Walgreen's (I've always assumed it's possessive) blades are also pretty pricey for what they are, but if it's all you have, it's all you have.

The Wilk's are about $10 for 10 blades here. We're better off getting ours from online sources, as the stores are limitied and expensive. Wilk's online are much more reasonably priced. I've not tried them myslef though.
Apart from that, I've got nothing constructive to say...Not that what I said was very constructive, but I do like to yap .

Well I had been using the Wilkinson's because here you can pick up a pack of 10 for about $1.50 or so at Wal-Mart. They're cheap and seem to do a pretty good job, although I havent tried any other brands. Im just leary of trying out the ones at CVS/Walgreens/etc, even though they are more expensive cause they just seem shady.

Funny you should say that, because I've always thought the Wilk's were a bit shady, yet so many people say try them out, they're good!

    TexasShaver:
Perhaps this is a good opportunity to experience a variety of other blades. None is available locally, to my knowledge, but you can order online for minimal shipping. Try a sampler pack. I assure you that will not regret the experience of trying these blades.

I went to a 'salvage' store and found some Wilkinson's for even cheaper-99 cents. You can also try a Bed, Bath and Beyond. They have a bunch of shaving gear. You might find them there. Anyway, I would also say try a sampler packer from somewhere if you can shell out the cash.

I'll check out some variety packs online and see what I can find, although Im sort of in a pinch as I've been on my last Wilkinson for about 6 shaves now, and thats way more then I usually use them for. So Im kind of desperate for new blades and waiting for shipping is going to suck. I didnt know that Bed, Bath, & Beyond had mens shaving stuff so I will check them out as well and see what they have. Im trying to reduce how much I use my DE so I dont want to buy too many blades all at once, but maybe I should have hoarded some blades before they all dried up.

i bought the $ store/walgreens/cvs/drug mart blades ( by me all seem to be the same maker) as well as the wilkinson blades while waiting on a sample pack ... so far in my gillette super speed the blades at those stores listed above have out performed the wilkinsons & any blade from the sample pack i received ( least my face perfers them ) so i think its worth a shot .... i do need to try the wilks in my other razors though cause like you said there cheap at walmart here in the U.S. and i think i paid $5 for the ones at the drug stores and $3 (i think ) at the dollar store

Thats great information gooser. I'll probably try some of the dollar store/drug store blades and see how my face likes them. I figure that for simple touch ups and maybe even ATG passes they will probably work out alright. It is interesting though that you prefer the "no name" brands over the more readily known blades. That puts me at ease in trying them.
