Default Gillette DE razor ID help

Ive read great things about the Gillette fat boy DE razors, as I just returned home from the once a month local flea market with the few razors that I found hoping someone could help me identify what I have. The razors were all the same price, $3 each, since i bought 4 of them she gave them to me for $10 so either way I couldn't complain.(ok ok i could have but who would actually listen) 3 of the 4 i know are just simple older Gillette DE razors and I'm fine with it, its the 4th that is in question. Any information, good or bad, would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
    Respectfully

Looks like a Fatboy to me. The bottom of the handle is thicker and more like the flare tips than the later model Slim Adjustables. What is the letter on the underside of the razor (at the top of the handle (above the adjustment numbers)? If it's E, F, or G (1959, 60 or 61) it is almost certainly a Fatboy. Ironically my 1960 Gillette Fatboy was a $4 Flea Market find and to this day is one of my top shavers. Nice score, I'm sure you'll love it. One word of warning. Let the weight of the razor do the work. As you've already figured out, this one is a hefty piece of metal. With additional pressure it will carve your face like a Thanksgiving Turkey. Put in a fresh blade, hold it as far down the handle as possible and just let it do its magic.

How do I know what number to set the fat boy to or is it trial and error?

id suggest starting on a low number and see how it feels / shaves ... i started high and thought i removed half my face ...lol...
i pretty much stay around 3-4 on my adjustable razor , kinda mild but it performs just a tad better as far as closeness then my 3 piece gillette techs & super speeds ...

    EAGLESKADU,
I agree with the other gentlemen, that the razor is the Fatboy. The best way to find the ideal setting is to experiment and see what works best for you. I use my Fatboy at 3, maximum 4.

i went with your suggestion Obie and put it on 3, and it was a PERFECT SHAVE, best shave I've probably ever had, I think now I might be worthy to put my picture on the SOTD.
