Learning to use a styptic pencil on the fly
So it's the missions conference tonight at church and so I wanted to get a real good shave; So I go through a hot shower, hot towel, lather. Also I happened to change blades right before shaving.
Im going through buffing my mustache and Im not sure if I moved my head or put pressure on the razor for half a second on the down stroke, but you know those razor cuts you get where you feel that stinging sensation and think "This is going to be a bad shave.", It was one of those. Took about five seconds to see any blood and then it started gushing. So I press my hot towel to my face (in retrospect a bad move because now Im minus a hot towel. and dive into my toiletry kit to find my styptic pencil. I can't find it for twenty seconds and by this point my towel is saturated. I tried to put the skin back in its original position but I was bleeding too much. I applied some toilet paper and then was using the pencil wrong.
I finally got it stopped once I held the pencil on top of the cut for about ten seconds. And where I was trying to swipe at it to stop it I have a giant coagulation mustache. So I scrubbed off the dried blood and reapplied the pencil while trying to put the skin back together the right way this time. it went in at a 45 degree angle and I think its going to scar but at least I know how to use the typtic right now lol.
so a reminder to de shaving noobs (myself included) when you start using a buffing technique apply NO pressure.
