    Default Disposing of de blades

Hi, I tried searching for this, but I'm on my phone and and my search-fu failed me.

I just got an Edwin Jagger DE89 to compliment my straight razor, and I was wondering how to dispose of the blades once they're ready to go. I've heard of blade banks, but what do people generally do?

I don't use a DE very often so I don't have may blades to get rid of, so I just blunt the edge and throw them in with my recycling.

It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

I have a small container with a screw on lid, a few holes in top to allow drying.
It's big enough to last a few years: then I will come back here & ask someone what I should do with them.

You want some really great garden food,Go to a brake shop that turns drums and rotors (they all do) is all cast iron, some will give it away.

My younger brother (who was a plant manager for a farm chemical firm) many years ago recommended using iron filings for helping yawns get greener and roses to get redder!

I had an old German neighbor who used a gasoline rotatory mower and his lawn was always so very 'green' looking. I asked him what fertilizer he used and he replied; "None years ago I drove old railroad spikes into the lawn"!

I'd hate to be the one who took a rototiller to re-due his lawn!

From my youth, I recall medicine cabinets would have a slot for used blades. The blades would go thru a hole in the wall into the void between the wall studs. Gone forever.

This is one of the reasons I love this place - from starting with a straightforward question about DE blades we have ended up in the realms of metallurgy, gardening, and, um, whatever it is Hirlau may or may not allegedly need to advise a 'friend' on.
