I baought a Gillette new from the thrift shop some time ago and it shave like a dream, but recently I found that either the threds on the head or in the handle are so worn down that they will not hold, does anyone know what I could do or is my new doomed to be on a display shlef ?
Maybe try some teflon tape around the male part. The kind of tape plumbers use.

Drill tap and heli-coil...
Always worked in the shop and threads were stronger than the originals.
I do not know if this is truly an option (I don't have DE's here) but it was the first thing that came to mind.
LOL Heli-coils have run through my mind before there wouldnt be enough wall left on the handle to place a heli-coil in.......will post pics tomorrow when I get off shift
Jimmy had the best idea (pun intended ;)) . Teflon tape is your best bet and it's cheap so you can reapply as necessary and keep your razor in service.
I'm also wondering if you're using too much pressure when twisting the cap on, considering the threads are wearing down. Maybe it's not just you, but the previous owner(s) as well.
Teflon tape seems worth a shot. Retapping the hole should work, too, and be more permanent but takes more tools/time/cost/skill, and would also remove it's "originalness" if such things matter.
