Difference between the Feather Artist Club Razors?

What’s the difference between the Feather Artist Club SS, and the Feather Artist Club DX razors? I'm looking at buying one of the models that doesn’t have a handle,; the non-folding type. There must be a difference, because of the large price differential, but I can’t figure out what the differences are. Anybody know? I want to buy one for those days when I can’t strop my regular straight (I have a CNS disease), or when I travel. I already have a DE I can use in these situations, but would like to try one of these as well.

Anybody have any information, or suggestions on these razors? Do you own one, and have an opinion about it? Any info would be very appreciated.

The SS ones have a special tip, I can't really explain it without a diagram, but the parts of the shavette which hold the blade are rounded slightly, helping to stretch the skin. This allows for a closer, and safer, shave.

From what I've read though, the AC (or DX) ones are made of brass, making them slightly heavier and reducing the pressure that you need to apply.

Thank you both, for the info, and the nice diagram. It makes it very clear what the rounded portion does - stretches the skin ahead of the blade.

BTW, I should add that it’s a very neat idea/design they (Feather) came up with. Well thought out - right to the last detail.
