Help needed

I have been using a CJB Razor for some time ( not every day) and I have got to the stage where I can do the north south pass no problem, and the xtg ok. I get a good shave not BBS. My problem is that when I go against the grain my razor sticks/stops, what am I doing wrong. Any thought from you guys would be welcome. It has taken me along time to get to this stage and I would like to be able to complete a three pass shave using WTG/XTG/ AND ATG.

Try not to go against the grain as this often contributes to irritation and ingrown hairs. If you must go against the grain, lower the angle by lowering the razor spine a bit, with the razor almost flat on your face, and the razor should glide easier.

Remember, it is far more important to have a comfortable shave than a perfect shave.

I'm certainly no expert, but two possibilities immediately come to mind:

1. You may need to flatten the razor's angle of attack. I've found that I need to have the spine almost flat against my skin for ATG passes with some razors.
2. Your skin stretching may not be adequate. Although always important, how you stretch your skin during your ATG pass is critical. I'm still working on this, myself.

Of course, there are no doubt other possible explanations, but these are the two that seem most likely to me.

as mentioned: flatter blade... But very short strokes help out as well.

Be mindful of pressure as well: it's all too easy to add too much pressure ATG and have irritation as a result.

I took you comments onboard with this mornings shave and it was better, still some niks but the blade did glide a little better so I will work on it using your tips.

As astutely stated above, to go XTG with such a super sharp edge requires good technique and a very light touch.
A very slick soap, Creamo for example, will also help.
Thin, weak lather will not do the job XTG.
