Smiling blades- do the do better than straights in trouble spots like the neck?

Again another offshoot from my ATG feed back questions....My brain is working overtime on my straight razor shaving this morning.


So do smiling blades do better in the neck area and help accommodate the curve and tighter fit ect. ect.

On a side not I read that larger blades 8/8 for instance do better ATG simply due to the momentum they can generate, but that momentum is also a terrible advisory if you're stroke is not proper. The damage is much worse. True?

Smiling blades are helpful on the lower neck as the smile prevents the tip from cutting but a round point works the same way. Well a little anyway. Smilers are really nice lookers. Shave wise, take your pick. I dont think it matters. And yes you can get that 8/8 under your nose.

I find they do. But that's just me.

Smile and the world smiles with you. I prefer a blade with at least a slight smile. OTOH, I have some that are straight and they get the job done nicely. What we don't want is a frown. Not in life or in razor profiles.
