I must be a razor w***e. I shave with everything from a 3/8 to a 6/8 and like them all just fine. I do find the bigger ones give me a better 'ride'. But the smaller ones have more finesse. I look forward to remembering each morning what the shave was like last time with that particular size and grind and see if I can improve on it's performance. In my book, the bigger sizes often, I think because of weight, have a movement of their own and you are just along for the ride, where with the smaller ones you have total and direct control. And the different grinds almost don't play into it. Although I do favor full hollows and wedges with near wedge running close.

As with most things YMMV (your mileage may vary). I have 5/8 and 6/8 and so far prefer the 5/8, but maybe that's just because I got it first and have more experience with it.

It's not the size it's how you use it. :<0)

I don't know why but I get a better shave with the larger blades, maybe it's easier for me to keep the angle right I know it's easier to strop them. I have a couple that are 9/16 but once I used a 6/8, I reach for the larger ones. Probably need to sell the smaller ones as I don't reach for them anymore.

Went in to trumpers, truefitts and TOBS to look at what they had, really limited all 5/8 really tried one i was told was 6/8 definitely felt heavier than my 5/8 felt really nice need to actually find somewhere in central london to touch and feel the different razors rather than order one blindly on a whim

How I envy you just being able to pop round to those stores at will. Personally I lean towards the 6/8 size for it's heft and not having to clean the lather off as frequently while shaving. I also lean towards a shoulderless blade style for ease of honing and it seems I can get the heel of the blade closer to edge of my stach more easily than with a blade style with shoulders.

admittedly its a 10-15m journey but its a journey that yielding nothing. I need to find a store that i can see the other sizes.
A good example was the shaving stands, until you actually see one you don't realise or at least i didn't realise how different my perception was to reality.

I'm actually gonna post a question about where to look
