At 23, I'm a little young to have children, so I have cats instead. The youngest watches me shave every day. He just sits there on the counter, watching :) Fortunately, without interfering (most of the time), no accidents so far.

My sons are well full grown and away into their own lives. Now I have a half Siamese cat that starts yowling at me when I shave because I'm not paying attention to her, Her Royal (pain in the arse) Highness Minnie Mouth (correct spelling).
Laurens, that's a great pic!
Monty, our Bombay, watches intently but has yet to 'interfere' thankfully.
Bombays are high demand, attention seeking cats, but he seems to understand that when I'm shaving it isn't play time.
That being said, I'm always cautious when he takes an interest...lightening fast!
Again great pic
Thanks :) He also sometimes stands up and puts his face in my neck. He does that a lot when my girlfriend is brushing her teeth. He is one big attention seeker, probably because we got him as a 5-week-old orphan and had to raise him with special milk. My girlfriend is really his mummy :D
Nice picture and nice company :) But it is pretty obvious that he is there because he want's you to shave him ;) That would probably also make a nice picture.
My cat, Inky, a completely black cat, who was born with very damaged vocal chords, can't meow. He makes a breathless sound, ofcourse he doesn't know he has bad vocal chords, so he will constantly gasp at me, and if you try to do something, he will inevitably interfere with the idea, "stupid human, you again no not what you do, out of the way, let me!", which sounds like a ventilator gone crazy!!
I let him no where near me when shaving!!

edited to add: did I mention Inky is insane and like's to kill things?
Laurens yours looks much like my youngest cat. His name is shadow and he lives up to it. :D
The cool thing about kids as opposed to cats Is they learn. My 2 1/2 year old says 'daddy shavin' with a straight razor' he also knows lathering stroping and mentions when I'm working on restorations by saying 'daddy workin on his straight razors'
If you ask him what he shave with he says a straight razor but first you strop!! Hahahha
Kids.
Thanks god I have 2 boys. Nice cats btw.
I have two cats. The older one is curious about stropping and sometimes shaving. The younger one only wants to hang out in the bathroom when I poop. She will scratch the door the whole time I'm in there doing my business.
My older cat couldn't care less. The younger one always wants to watch from the toilet seat, and occasionally climb my back, which is not fun when you don't have a shirt on.

My cat shows an interest as well but I dont let her stay around. I have enough with the hairs of brush and I dont need her shows of affection while I have a sharp edge next to my jugular.
Sorry it has taken so long.
Here is Monty in all his Glory....as Bombay's are apt to display.

Here is TC. (Top Cat ) He stays off all counters and tables as I trained him that way. He is allowed on the bathroom sink. He is part of my shave ritual. I turn the water on a trickle to get it hot and he drinks and plays in it until it does. Splashes water all over the place. I never had a cat the loved to play in the water like he does. Hone well open? Play time. Tub for cooling razors as I polish....lets make a mess. He thinks hone time is pet me time. I made the mistake of letting him on the workbench once and so now he thinks it's okay. If I put my face close to the work to ignore him I get the head butt. If I ignore that several times I get the hook under the chin and he pulls my head to look at him. He keeps me smiling that's for sure.

'The Cisco Kid'...my Watch-Dog! Wherever I am he has to be there as well...

10Pups, are you ready to agree with me that a good cat is often smarter than it's human caretaker. After all, we are the ones that do the looking after, they are the ones that just luxuriate and drink it all in.
I think all animals can seem very smart, but let's face it , what's on their mind ? They have no tasks, bills, opinions or worries. All they have to do is poo, eat, drink, nap and observe us. :<0) We are not so hard to figure out. And they do have it made don't they
10Pups, if I could pick any reincarnation I could to come back as I think I would want to come back as my big boy (25 lbs) Prince of cats. That is short of what finally did him in. What would you choose?
hmmmmmm. I think I would want to be 1 of 2 things. A dog for much the same reasons as a cat but with a little more world to be in. Or a falcon because I really don't want to be let down by a human and the top of the food chain is always best :<0)
I don't think I would like to come back as cat or dog. For every one well cared for and loved (and likely neutered) there are thousands struggling to survive.
I'd be a cockroach for when the nuclear wars start :)
Front row seat, Close enough to keep an eye on things...far enough away I don't have to worry about being "helped."Attachment 150492
He is a big cat. He easily reaches above my waist when he wants attention. He is about 15 lbs right now. Currently on reduced rations...Vet wants him at 14. Known to steal greens from a salad if he can get to it. One of the most mellow cats I have owned. If not in my lap, Always within sight of me from the time I walk in the door...
My sons like to watch me shave, and occasionally record videos of the experience.

My pal here ......... he takes no interest in my shaving ritual.

I also lost his mother, Lil Mama a few months ago. I think she was part Finnish Forest cat, a true lovey and comforter in times of stress. I am down to just Prince's sister, a half Siamese with the full voice of one. Lil Mama came to me off the streets and first visit to the Vet's was told I was to be a grandfather. She gave me six kittens and by the markings she had had a wild night with three different toms. I think she was glad to find me, never wanted to go outside again. Sister/daughter Minnie Mouth (correct spelling) is more true Siamese than half. Greets at the door, watches TV with me with a paw on me at all times, and vocalizes every thought in her head - mainly food! food! where's my food? Gotta love em.
