It's true, the longer the sideburns the easier it is to see the line. An old solution to a very old problem :D

I struggled with this at the beginning. Over time I have figured out not too turn my head quite so far, careful hand positioning and keep both eyes open. Binocular vision helps the process.
i am very near sighted, but what i do is pull the skin up by my side burn and pull the ear piece of my glasses with it and look through the glass at a 45 angle. its a touch odd to see but its better than being blind
I have a bit of trouble wit this as well, even though I don't wear glasses. I guess it takes some figuring out.
I have trouble seeing my left sideburn, so I set the right nosepiece on the bridge of my nose so I can see it. Silly, but works for me!
All the replies have been most helpful. I think a combination of standing back from the mirror and facing more straight ahead as opposed to turning to the side have seemed to help with the last couple of shaves. Still not ruling out an attached mirror, but for now I'm just going to keep practicing.
Cheers
I have a problem seeing my right sideburn area as well. So far, no amount of positioning and contortion has been able to help. I have been able to get good results by using the "feel" of the blade against my face, though. It gets just as close when I trim up to the bottom of the sideburn, then check the mirror, adjust, and try again.
I have the same issue, and I don't wear glasses! If I turn and hold the razor at just the right angle, I can see the area at the top of my ear. Practice makes perfect! ;)
