At the barber shop I go to, frequented by young and old, but a fair amount of young Latinos, this is common. Those guys get their hairline lathered and shaved as part of the cut. usually just clippers with a #1 or 2 guard over the sides and top/back, then absolutely even by shaving the forehead with a shavette. Seen it for years among young men down here.
Yeah, Glen. The google result seem to indicate this is quite a popular women's beauty treatment and has been from quite a while back. I'd heard of actresses back in the 30's and 40's using this treatment.
IMHO, women have always been smarter about shaving than the guys.
They do it in the shower/tub where everything is always wet and soft.
OTOH, shaving their face may well force them from the tub/shower to the mirror. The difference between the sexes is the man's beard. It grows noticeably every day and requires a deft touch to shave properly.
The ladies facial hair is much finer and much less noticeable, IMO. So, the question is:
How often do women have to shave their face?
... And, is it similar to a gentleman's beard where, once you start and as you continue to shave, does the hair change in size and texture coming in thicker and coarser as time rolls on?
Seems like that would be the determining factor... If you had darker, coarser hair to begin with seems to be an easy practice to begin. But, were a lady to have finer, fairer hair that would be a significant commitment and added grooming ritual that may be best avoided.
Very interesting and I wonder if chemical hair removal would be just as effective yet not lead to the mechanical stimulation and subsequent change in hair growth?
The massage part looks wonderful. I have had a barber shave me once and the pampering is what made it different.
