Default Hadn't shaved with a SR for a while and...

...did pretty well. A couple very minor nicks. Still had a tough time getting the jaw line down to the neck smooth so I had to touch that area up with a DE safety razor. But I hadn't shaved with a SR for a year or two so I did OK with the shave.

Anyway, all went well until................I dropped the razor and chipped the blade right at the corner. Damn!!!!!!! At least it was a relatively inexpensive Ebay find. But it was a nice razor nonetheless. Could have been worse. Could have been one of my Issards. Guess I could still shave with it. But it will be like shaving with a spike tip. Crap!!

    Condolences, there, Tom.

Are you back in the fold, then?

    Kind Regards,

    Simon

It's taken me 3 months, but I can now (thankfully say) that I can get just about bbs down to the final few inches of the neck. For the jaw line, I've realized it's all about stretching. I pull my face up for the cheek passes and then come along the jaw line for a second pass. This video is what I've been copying for my chin/neck:

No, guys it certainly won't hinder me at all. The razor I used was good and sharp after being stropped on the paddle board with some 1/2 diamond paste then on to the leather strop. I actually got a pretty decent shave. Last time I pretty thoroughly butchered my face, LOL!! But I've learned that the more I use the SR the better my shaves...imagine that. The main problem I have is time. To get a good shave with a SR it takes some time. Time to prep both the SR (stropping) and your face (steaming the face and keeping it wet, wet, wet).

Through the work week I have little time in the mornings, even getting up at 5:00 AM. So...sometimes I have to shave with my Mach III, DE, or God forbid.........an electric razor. So my SR shaving is relegated to the weekends. But I do enjoy SR shaving. I enjoy the challenge of getting one sharp and keeping it that way. If I haven't been SR shaving for a while I'll sometimes have to skip a day to let my skin recover from some nicks, scrapes, or burns. But, as I said, if I've been "practicing" I don't get nicks and such. It is fun though, I must admit.
