Broken Filarmonica
Huge blunder this morning. My Filarmonica #14 slipped out of my hands as I was about to wipe it on towel and fell to the floor. Unfortunately the blade tip hit the ceramic tiles, the scales landing on small carpet. A portion of the blade broke off.
Anyone know if this can be repaired and by whom?
Thank you for your assistance,
Jamie

People cut the spine and make 'shorty' razors, but that is too extreme IMO. Not that it couldn't be done, but whether it would be worth it, usable ....... I don't know ? Others will chime in with their opinions.

that is brutal, breaks my heart :(

Ugh, say good-bye to my big fren.

It's toast.
I'd keep it because you may at some time be able to make a craft knife or something out of what's remaining. I'm not kidding about that, either - a busted razor with the blade cut down is one of the higher quality precise folding knives that you'll ever get a hold of.
Bummer in terms of the dollars, but probably quite a few of us have done something to chip or break a razor at some point.

Whatever you do, keep the scales. If they are original and undamaged they are worth something. Perhaps you'll luck into a good blade with broken scales down the road.

I feel your pain, this is one of mine here's what happens when someone sells you a vintage razor and doesn't fix and tape a loose top on the box then the razor falls out onto the kitchen tiled floor, all for a simply fix a piece of tape would have save this great looking early JMP Doble temple.
