The problem with the Art Of Shaving stores is that their employees don't know how to shave so they cannot properly advise their customers and have no idea what shave ready means.
For refreshing with a barber hone, you just do 4-6 light round trip strokes. Just about any shaving video will demonstrate a basic x stroke, which is all you'll need to do to maintain your razor after it is oroperly honed.

Factory razors have as much chance of being optimally shave ready as a factory Toyota has the chance to be blue printed & balanced before delivery.
That's why I like Straight Razor Designs and the classifieds here at SRP. You know if they say 'shave ready' they mean it!
I have purchased three razors, two from SRD, and one from the classifieds here, and all three came perfectly honed. I also notice that the members offering razors for sale in the classifieds all have 100% positive feedback. It's hard to beat 100%. (except for politicians)
