I know that Feather AC's aren't really used much around here, but I thought that I would link this video I made of myself shaving with a Japanese Non-Folding Feather AC. I've had it on shavemyface for over a day and thought that it may come in handy over here. At the very least, it shows the maneuverability of the Japanese style razor.

It was more nerve wracking than I thought with the camera on me. My hand shook a little bit here and there. Yes, the blade did crash into my chin a bit and gave me a small nick. Nerves. (sure, sure!)Quote:

That's a cool looking blade. I think I'd prefer to shave with that type actually. Scales always annoyed me a bit.
How's it stored?
How is honing/stropping on it?
(edit: nm, it's a the replaceable blade thing).
I do like the handle.

Also I've heard people say you have to use really (almost negative) pressure when using one of these bad boys --- but it looks like you use considerable pressure in certain places -- am I seeing this correctly.

I found that the pressure you use depends on the hair growth...
The lighter (less dense) the less pressure.
But even so you dont use that much. Those blades can cleave your cheek open if you so much as blink.
Good wake-up call in the morning though.... nothing like swiping your cheek with a surgical blade to get the old adrenaline going...

I really just bought the thing for fun, and to see how a known sharp blade compares to my honed and stropped blades.
If one gets 5-10 shaves from each blade, I can't knock 'em. Still better off than the carts.

I just bought a Dovo Shavette ---- mostly for travel purposes and times of need ---- I really like it for what it is ----- fairly good quality and I've been getting very good shaves with it --- money well spent.Quote:

What sort of blade would these be like in comparison to say a full hollow or half or quarter. Would they compare to say a wedge type shave.
I'm not explaining very well, but what I really want to know is what sort of shave would it compare to, a full hollow or a wedge.
I'm looking for a wedge type shave and would consider something like this if they are comparable.
